PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Something magical happens when we accept personal responsibility for our behavior and our results.
But, it's not easy, because it's human nature to "pass the buck" – when people struggle, many times they find themselves blaming others, blaming the economy, blaming this, blaming that.

Mature leaders know that when things go wrong in their business or their life, you can always find the culprit - in the mirror. In nearly every instance, it always comes back to choices you’ve made in life that put you exactly where you are today.

As a leader one of the most important things you can do in times of change is to get your team to understand how taking personal responsibility and recognizing problems as opportunities will not only help the company, but will help them as individuals.

Authors B.J. Gallagher and Steve Ventura wrote a great little book about achieving success through personal accountability titled: Who Are "They" Anyway?

I like their list showing how each individual in the company can benefit by adopting a "Personal Accountability Attitude":

You have more control over your destiny
You become an active contributor rather than a passive observer
Others look to you for leadership
You gain the reputation as a problem solver
You enhance your career opportunities
You enjoy the satisfaction that comes from getting things done...the power of positive doing
You experience less anger, frustration and helplessness - all leading to better physical health
You realize a positive spillover effect into your personal life at home

The most important words of personal responsibility are as follows:
The 10 most important words: I won't wait for others to take the first step.

The 9 most important words: If it is to be, it's up to me.

The 8 most important words: If not me, who? If not now, when?

The 7 most important words: Let me take a shot at it.

The 6 most important words: I will not pass the buck.

The 5 most important words: You can count on me.

The 4 most important words: It IS my job!

The 3 most important words: Just do it!

The 2 most important words: I will.

The most important word: Me

Frank Tyger said it best..."Your future depends on many things, but mostly yourself."

DAILY MOTIVATION- YOUR ASPIRATIONS ARE YOUR POSSIBILITIES

The first ingredient of your success is to dream a great dream.

You must dream big and think big to be big.

High expectation always precedes high achievement.

You're as small as your controlling desires, or as great as your dominant aspirations.

Once your mind stretches to a new idea it will never go back to its original dimensions.

If you dream of little goals you can expect little achievement.

Dream of big goals and you'll win big success.

DAILY MOTIVATION-IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL IT'S OVER

The power to hold on in spite of everything, to endure, this is the quality of a winner.

Your greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time you fail.

It's your constant and determined effort that will eventually break down all resistance and sweep all the barriers before you.

Persistence means taking pains to overcome every obstacle, to do all that's necessary to reach your goal. All great achievements require time.

Endurance is the crowning quality of success.

DAILY MOTIVATION- YOUR SUCCESS DEPENDS ON HARMONY & COOPERATION

The world is primarily constituted on the basis of harmony.

Everything works in cooperation with something else.

Personal relationships are the fertile soil from which all advancement, all success, all achievement in real life grows.

Put yourself in another's place.

Only then will you know why they think and do certain things.

Once you understand how quickly people will grant your requests when those requests appeal to their self interest, you can have practically anything you go after.

It's through cooperation not conflict, that you'll achieve your greatest success.

Your Personal Economic Stimulus Plan

When we act according to our beliefs, life just seems to be better! All to often, however, we act like the doctor just gave us a life sentence of a heart murmur and to be careful.
If we think we've reached our limits, we have. If we think the economy is bad, it probably is. But reality is not always what we think or hear.
You see, we have to enlarge our vision and thinking. In today's economy, those who are prospering are those who think they can.
Are you thinking, "I'm going to have an extraordinary year!" or are you thinking, "Boy, this is going to be a tough year"? I hear many people saying, "I'm just going to weather the storm." And, you know, that's exactly what they'll do- weather the storm. Instead, we should be saying, "I love the rain, It's my time to prosper"

This kind of personal outlook is not ignorance or turning a blind eye to the realities of the economy. Not hardly! It's an outlook that won't let others dictate your own personal action. All the experts are saying it's going to get worse before it gets better. That may be true for foreclosures and the economy, but not for us individually.

Don't talk yourself into having a bad year. Sooner or later, you're hard work will catch up with you! When you decide now is the time for your business to grow, great things will happen: your countenance changes, your mind works better, you get new ideas, you have a fresh new perspective and you get into the habit of acting in a way that fulfills those ideas.

The courage to take a risk is the direct result of believing something great is in store for you! I see small business owners in my business prospering like never before because of the current economic conditions. Does the economy have an impact on your business? It sure does. It's a huge opportunity if we treat it that way:

Customers want more value for their dollar. We have the answer.

People need an extra $500 a month to make ends meet. We have the answer.
People want to get out of debt. We have the answer.

I can offer 3 simple solutions to your own economic turnaround. You could look at this as your individual economic stimulus plan:
1. Stop looking back; look forward:
You cannot control the past. If your 401(k) is down by 40%, no amount of worry of anxiety can get it back. If you wish you had less debt, sleepless nights won't fix it. Look forward. You can't change where you've been- only where you're going. And look at what you've learned! You appreciate things more, you understand how to avoid mistakes, and you are wiser than ever before!
2. Get to work. It feels better and it works!
A natural result of an economic crisis is for people to experience fear, confusion and stress. For some, this leads to distress, hopelessness, and a feeling that they are powerless to change the situation. This state of imbalance leaves many frozen and unable to act or decide on the best course of action. When we act on what we can control, things improve. And with every improvement comes the sense that we can prevail.

3. Cheer up!
Smile. Get happy. Tell a joke. Laughter will make all the difference. Laughter relieves stress, brings light into any room, and when you are happy and enthusiastic, those around you will follow your example.
Share some humor. Be encouraging. Be hopeful. Share that feeling of joy to those around you. I love this funny story I read recently:
"Hospital regulations require a wheelchair for patients being discharged. However, while working as a student nurse, I found one elderly gentleman already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet, who insisted he didn't need my help to leave the hospital. After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator. On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him. "I don't know, he said, she's still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown".
Now is our time! You can turn the economic downturn into a prosperous reality. If you're looking for a business, you've come to the right place. We are positioned to assist you in every aspect of building a business and making it successful, our success depends on it!

We are thrilled to have you as a part of our mission of helping others. I am certain of our future.

You are in the right place at the right time, and together we can make a big difference in your future and the future of those around you.

Have a great month!
